The Vulcan held the record for the longest bombing mission when it bombed the runway on the Falkland Islands after the Argentine invasion in 1982, a return journey of nearly 8,000 nautical miles. The mission was known as 'Black Buck One' and took almost 16 hours.

After five years of planning and construction a futuristic Trimaran superyacht Adastra by McConaghy boats in Zhuhai China, described as one of the most stunning of its kind, has been launched into the Pearl River in China. As the International Space Station was flying 227 nautical miles above the Bahama Islands, one of the Expedition 40 crew members photographed this image of Hurricane Arthur, moving northerly along the Atlantic coast line.
