[Unkown, Hades abducting Persephone, detail of a wall painting in tomb 1, Vergina, Greece, mid-fourth century bce. 3´3–1´high, late classical] In Macedonia,1977 an excavation revealed three 4th-century bc tombs of the Macedonian royal family, with rich artefacts, notably our best-preserved Classical wall paintings.
