Paddington Station - one of my brothers (when he was young) spent lots of time here just watching the trains

Paddington Station (London) Pity this clock wasn't nine minutes faster. It would look fabulous as my 'The From Paddington' cover

Liverpool Lime Street station, Liverpool. The iron and glass roof dates from the 1880's. This has the most beautiful and usual curved layout and is so open and bright.

This is Paddington Station, London built by I K Brunel. This photo is often wrongly pinned as London Liverpool Street or Liverpool Lime Street Station!

Norman Gate at Windsor Castle, just outside London. The fortress is almost a thousand years old and still in use as a royal residence.

Norman Gate - Windsor Castle - Berkshire, England - Europe's oldest century), intact, and in-use royal palace .

Rupert Bear 1951 - loved these rhyming stories My favourite book as a child

The New Rupert Book 1951 Annual cover, written and illustrated by Alfred Bestall, and published by Daily Express.

It is nearly 10.30 on a June morning in 1935 and the Cornish Riviera Express is about to depart from platform I at Paddington. Most people in this busy photograph are not catching the train but are walking along the platform or looking at the shops. There is a post office, a branch of Boots the Chemist, a tobacconist and, farther on, a confectioner, a bookstall and a hairdressing salon. Signs advertising these retail outlets are much the same as those advertising railway services.

Platform 1 Paddington June 1935 and the Cornish Riviera Express is soon to depart.
