Our next unit focuses on bar modeling and I wasn't happy with what our curriculum gave us to work with. I created this packet to use with my students on a variety of skills: number bonds, fact families, and bar modeling. It also includes a sort for word problems.
Decomposing Numbers: can do an activity with the number cubes. Students roll a number. Put that number of blocks in the big circle then decompose into 2 smaller numbers. Give students a recording sheet.
use objects and pictorial models to solve word problems involving joining, separating, and comparing sets within 20 and unknowns as any one of the terms in the problem such as 2 + 4 = [ ]; 3 + [ ] = and 5 = [ ] - I would use this as independent practice
