The Pekin duck is a domesticated duck used primarily for egg and meat production. It was bred from the Mallard in China, it was brought to the United States about 1873. lifespan 9-12 yrs. Usually won't set so incubation necessary let a hen hatch them- eggs hatch in 28 days @ 99.5 degrees F(37.5C) & 55-75%humidity. Easier to hatch than chickens. Eggs are moved to "hatcher" 3 days prior to due date with slightly lower temp & higher humidity. When catching, grab neck not by the legs.
