History: This is a picture of when Spain lost most of its empire and what it is now. In 1814, King Ferdinand VII went back to the spanish throne. He repealed the new constitution and tried to get control of spain's overseas empire again. Many of Spain's American colonies declared independence. In 1825, Spain had lost almost all of its overseas possessions except for Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam, and some outposts in Africa.
