Jostaberries (Ribes × nidigrolaria) are a hybrid of blackcurrants and gooseberries. The bush looks more like a gooseberry than a blackcurrant, and the berry size almost as large as a gooseberry, with more of a blackcurrant flavour. Jostaberries fruit on spurs on two year old wood, so again we cut back any unhealthly looking or crossing branches, and thinned back about a third of the old wood, but we left mature wood from this year to provide fruiting wood for next year.
