Platt Amendment on Cuba Document Analysis Activity U.S. Imperialism
The Platt Amendment passed in 1903 after the Spanish-American War which stated seven conditions. Cuba was to abide by the seven conditions in order for the United States to remove U.S. military troops from Cuba. The amendment made the United States superior to Cuba. In 1934 the Treaty of Relations annulled the Platt Amendment. Roosevelt removed provisions that annoyed Cubans in order to qualify as a "good neighbor."
