Duncraig Castle from Plockton (Walkhighlands) Home of the opium lords - Mathieson. It was abandoned but taken over by a London family who now run the restored parts as a Bed and Breakfast . Its in a spectacular setting overlooking the sea and Plockton.

No matter if they are inhabited or abandoned, these castles are truly magnificent.

Often referred to as the prettiest village in Scotland, Plockton, population is on the shore of Loch Carron. TV series, Hamish Macbeth, was filmed in this quaint village.

This is where they filmed Hamish Macbeth, but more than that it's an idyllic Highland hamlet lying at the end of Loch Carron, arranged in rows of painted cottages with manicured lawns and palm trees in front and magnificent mountains behind.
