World map. I got a 4x8 sheet of half-inch plywood cut into thirds at Home Depot to end up with 3 pieces of 32x48" -- a good size to fill the empty wall in the dining room. With one-inch spacing, it gave me 32x48 pixels. I scaled down a world map to that size and posterized it to 5 colors (white + 4 shades of gray).

Right Angle Braces - Wood Mag Tip of the Day For each pair, start with a 12″ square of 3⁄4″ Baltic-birch plywood and cut it in half diagonally. Then cut notches for the clamps, above. You can vary sizes to suit larger or smaller projects. The braces help with more than glue-ups. Clamp a pair to a chest, above, to support the lid as you install hinges.

Laundry room: countertop made with plywood (cut to size at Lowes). I applied stencil (from Hobby Lobby) with white paint, then sanded with fine sandpaper. Then I created a "color wash" using equal parts paint (Valspar's Swizzle Stick) and water, just mix and apply with a rag, then rub in with a dry rag.

Created a weight caddy that simply slides out from under the couch. Made the caddy from a piece of oak plywood cut to size, and stained. Using an old leather thrift store belt, made a handle for the caddy. To help it slide easily out from under the couch, these magic sliders grace the underside of the wood.

Mirror I tiled :0) We removed a builders mirror in a bathroom remodel. I had a 3 quarter inch plywood cut to size at Home Depot. Used mirror glue to attach the mirror. The small tiles on the mesh were perfect I let one row fall to the side to make a nice edge. Used the same glue to put the tiles on the mirror and grouted.
