The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is one of the oldest continuously operating churches in the world. The structure is built over the cave that tradition marks as the birthplace of Jesus of Nazareth, and thus it is considered sacred by Christians. The site is also revered by followers of Islam (Wikipedia).

This is the inside of the library of Saint Catherine's Monestary Library, in Egypt.  Built in the sixth century CE, it's the oldest continuously running library in the world.  Along with an impressive collection of codices (second only to the Vatican), this library houses the Achtiname, a document that includes a promise from Muhammad offering his protection to Saint Catherine's Monestary. Imprisoned, tortured and sentenced to death by Emperor Maxentius, St. Katherine for surpassed the intelligence of her opponents debating her virtuous views that  helped converted 200 additional Christians.  Her death took place on a broken spiked wheel which now serves emblematic in honorary of her death, also later beheaded.
