Sam Bowie lied to be drafted ahead of Michael Jordan in 1984

Sam Bowie is the guy who was drafted ahead of Michael Jordan. He always will be the guy who was drafted ahead of Michael Jordan. 2 overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft may have added another clause

Sam Bowie - No. 2, Portland Trail Blazers, 1984 When not being dunked on by Larry Nance, Kentucky's Bowie is a serviceable NBA player (10.9 ppg, 7.5 boards) during his 10-year career. But the Trail Blazers will always lament selecting him with the No. 2 pick in the 1984 draft. Why? A player by the name of Michael Jordan goes next to the Chicago Bulls. Could've had: Michael Jordan (#3), Sam Perkins (#4), Charles Barkley (# 5), Alvin Robertson (#7), Otis Thorpe (#9), John Stockton (#16)

Sam Bowie went to the dry cleaners the other day. Never mind whether he wanted his shirts folded or on hangers. A more pressing matter, so to speak, was on the mind of the clerk.

University of Kentucky's 7 foot one inch Sam Bowie answered reporters questions at media day on October 15, 1982, in Memorial Coliseum. Bowie ended up taking a medical red shirt for the 82-83 season due to a stress fracture in his left tibia that was slow to heal. Kentucky holds it's annual media day later today for this year's men's basketball team. Photo by Charles Bertram | Staff
