On this day in 1941, Bobby Jones' team, the "Jones' Challengers," defeated Walter Hagen's U.S. Ryder Cup team during a two-day "All Star Match" which took the place of the Ryder Cup, since the Great Britain team was unable to attend due to World War II. Bobby Jones returned after 10 years of retirement to compete with a field of elites such as Ben Hogan, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead and Byron Nelson.
