Robert Sargent Shriver, Jr., was the driving force behind the creation of the Peace Corps.

Robert Sargent "Sarge" Shriver Jr - was an American statesman and activist. As the husband of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, he was part of the Kennedy family, serving in the Kennedy and Johnson administrations.

I was very lucky to have worked with Eunice and Sargent Shriver. The finest example of true philanthropy, I found them to be truly amazing human beings. Spending a night in their home and being served breakfast by Mr. Shriver remains a highlight of my life. She was the first celebrity to stand up for people with intellectual disabilities (her sister was DD) and created Special Olympics, Unified Sports, and helped their son found Best Buddies. These two changed the world for the better…

Sargent Shriver and his wife Eunice Kennedy Shriver, November Eunice was the sister of the late President John F.
