The Battle of Brandywine was fought September 11, 1777, during the American Revolution. Landing at Head of Elk, Gen. Sir William Howe marched north with the goal of capturing Philadelphia. The Battle of Saratoga took place on October 7, 1777.  This event was the defeat of the Hessian and British on Freeman's Farm.  The forced the Hessians mercenaries to retreat, but Arnold had gotten shot in the leg.  This war was extremely important because it was the turning point of the Revolutionary War, and it made the British Realize that the colonies might win this war.
