Sistine Chapel - Rome, Italy The Sistine Chapel is the best-known chapel of the Apostolic Palace, the official residence of the Pope in the Vatican City. It is famous for its architecture and its decoration by Renaissance artists including Michelangelo. Michelangelo painted 12,000 sq ft of the chapel ceiling between 1508 and 1512. The ceiling, and especially The Last Judgment (1535–1541), is widely believed to be Michelangelo's crowning achievement in painting.

Painting Exhibition: Vincent van Gogh and Expressionism
In 1508, Michelangelo was forced into a job he loathed. For 4 years, he struggled with an abusive boss and horrible working conditions, doing a job he wasn't trained to do. In the end, he created one of the greatest works of art man has ever made. That's what makes him a great man. Perhaps those who "can't" handle a difficult job should remember that sometimes the greatest beauty comes out of commitment in spite of difficulty. We are known for our work, not our circumstances.
