Grand Central was a discount store chain based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Fred Meyer bought the chain in 1984 and kept the Utah and Idaho stores. Stores in New Mexico and Arizona were sold to Wal-Mart. Wyoming and Nevada stores were closed. Fred Meyer was renamed Smith's Marketplace in Utah during 2004. Only one of the ex-Grand Central Fred Meyer stores has stayed through the two name changes. That location is in East Millcreek, Utah. All other stores were closed or relocated.
Love these mail presents - Use craft paper or grocery sack for wrapping then Christmas stickers for the stamps. Crochet cotton string works for the string in this old fashioned mailed package wrapping. You can pickup some computer disc labels at the dollar stores to use as address labels. Copy postage cancel stamp images from Google and you have it. - Pam
How could my 52 Foodie Firsts not include a shock factor somewhere in the mix?! Week #9 and this year's Leap Day specialty is FROG LEGS! Smith's Marketplace for the jumbo frog legs and BBQ chicken hind quarters. For the frog legs I slathered them with oive oil, Lousianna hot sauce, BBQ sauce, garlic and lemon juice. Grill about 5 minutes each side. Serve with "quartered" potato wedges, acini de pepe (frog eye salad) and green peas.
