Greek Sphinx an omen of death & destruction & bad luck. Offspring of Typhon and Echidna. A female creature, sometimes depicted as a winged lion with a human head, & sometimes with the breasts, paws of a lion, & wings. She sat on a high rock near Thebes & posed a riddle to all who passed. The riddle: "What animal is that which in the morning goes on four feet, at noon on two & in the evening upon three?" Need to do a sphinx-maybe haunting the temple at the Met in NYC or housecat size.TB
