An old preservation victory: Hotel St. Benedict Flats. 40 E. Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL. ...an early apartment building, designed by architect James J. Egan. The building was made to resemble a group of rowhouses, to counter the unpopular perception of apartments (aka “French flats”) at the time. Built 1882.
