Saint Bernadette ~ Bernadette Soubirous (Saint Marie-Bernarde Soubirous) was a miller's daughter born in Lourdes, France and is venerated as a Christian mystic and Saint in the Catholic Church. Saints are real people doing God work just a bit extra.

As a young 14 year old girl, Bernadette Soubirous had 18 visions of the Blessed Lady in a grotto in the outskirts of Lourdes. Although doubted at the time, she was later canonised by the Catholic Church. Lourdes has become one of the most popular locations of religious pilgrimage. Many believe in the curatives powers of the spring waters, and 67 healings have been authenticated.

St Bernadette Soubirous; she is also an "incorruptible", meaning her body has not decayed after death

St Bernadette Soubirous "They think I'm a saint. When I'm dead, they'll come and touch holy pictures and rosaries to me, and all the while I'll be getting broiled on a grill in purgatory. At least promise me you'll pray a lot for the repose of my soul.
