'Warship' Class 42 diesel hydraulic No. D817 'Foxhound' waits to depart from Exeter St Davids on 22nd May 1971 with a service for London Waterloo. New from Swindon Works in March 1960, it was withdrawn from Newton Abbot (83A) in October 1971 and cut-up at its birthplace during March 1972. Derek Jones
D833 'Panther' at Exeter St Davids on 17th July 1971. New from the North British Locomotive Company, Glasgow, in July 1960 and first allocated to Laira . After a period in store at Old Oak Common and Swindon from March 69, it was reinstated in September of that year. The loco failed at Reading on 22nd September 71 and was withdrawn the following month, being cut up at Swindon Works in February 1972. (Derek Jones)
