▶ Stay Gold (Alternate Version) - Stevie Wonder. From the 1983 movie The Outsiders. There's so much to be said about it. Matt Dillon was an established dramatic actor as was Diane Lane. Leif Garrett's career was fading. Tom Cruise had just become a star and yet spoke about five lines of dialogue. His time would come of course. And pretty much everyone else was an up-and-comer. Personally I got into this movie when it hit cable television in the spring of 1984. :)

This is ‘Stay Gold' by Young Zee, featuring Lauryn Hill & fellow Outsidaz member, Yah Yah. The song was recorded and intended for release on Young Zee's 'Musical Meltdown' album in 1996 - it features an ill live banjo, and samples from Stevie Wonder and Yusef Lateef - the latter couldn’t get cleared and the album itself was only released on a cassette promo by Perspective Records. An unofficial 12” was released with the original and a piano-laced remix, which can also be found on a Hot97…
