I had my 12th birthday sitting under the big banyon tree on the patio there sipping a virgin mai tai cocktail out of a coconut shell. On another trip I had my first experience in a 40-foot sailboat thrilled and scared by the speed and leaning on over the edge on one side. I got to taste a piece of raw octopus on a dock and it suctioned its way down my throat.
Mai Tai - 1 ounces light rum - ounce triple sec - ounce orange juice - ounce pineapple juice - ounce dark rum - oz lime juice - 1 dash of grenadine - Garnish with a cherry, slice of pineapple, and an umbrella toothpick
At your next get-together, your non-drinking guests and designated drivers, as well as the younger set, will appreciate a virgin mai tai. It's non-alcoholic and a whole lot more fun than soda pop or fruit punch. Break out the tiki torches and get ready to party, because a virgin mai tai is fresh and fruity -- and takes only minutes to prepare.
Mai Tai 1 large lime 1 cup pineapple juice cup orange juice 6 ice cubes 2 T gernadine juice lime and add to pineapple and orange juice, blend with ice cubes and pour into glasses. Add a small amount of gernadine to each glass!
