Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire' - This deciduous shrub has oval, mid-green leaves and produces small, creamy-white flowers in May and June. But it's really grown for the brilliant, flame-coloured stems that are revealed when the leaves, which turn orange-yellow in autumn.
Handprint Tree: This autumn tree activity would provide a creative opportunity for the children at the preschool. It is fun to use their own handprint and fingerprints to create the picture. This would definitely be a DAP activity.
Thai coconut courgette soup - We've taken our courgetti obsession to the next level with this easy, healthy Thai coconut courgetti soup. Starting with room temperature courgettes means the soup won't cool down much when you pour it into the bowl and the courgette won't go soggy.
Rocket Aspirations. On transition day I got children to write on rocket about their hopes and targets for the coming year. They stuck on crepe paper for the fire and I added their photos to make it look as though they were looking out the window of the rocket. When backed on black paper it makes a very attractive display.
