European robin. A robin is one of the first birds to arrive after winter. The robin who shows the Pevensies the way in Narnia is the first sign that the White Witch's hold is loosening and the spring is on its way.

Aww. I want to put him in my pocket to warm him up! I remember seeing a QI episode where Stephen Fry said that Robins are on Xmas cards because in the 1880's postmen were called 'redbreasts' due to their red uniform. They were really noticeable at Xmas time because they were delivering Xmas cards - so now we have the Robin 'Redbreast' on Xmas cards. Nice little bit of info!
