The first thing that I found very interesting and unique is the quirkiness of this simple sketch. I feel that the layout of this particular sketch has been well thought out and there is a great amount of delicacy that is shown within this simple, yet detailed drawing. This relates into the theme of Earth as you can clearly see that this is an illustration of the earth's valuable forest and plants. I feel this is communicated through the detailed lines within the illustration.
These sketchbook pages are part of the research and planning in an A Level Photography project exploring the theme ‘Hidden Identity’. The inclusion of test strips is beneficial (even in digital photography these can be produced, testing different contrast, lighting and colour filters that have been applied to an image); images are neatly trimmed and positioned on the pages. Articulate, well-reasoned annotation adds to the sharp, clean presentation style.
The black paper and vibrant colours in this Photography sketchbook result in a dramatic, eye catching layout. The pages almost take on a magazine-like quality, with large and small images integrated carefully within text.
