Designs Using The Pleated Fabric
These are my designs ideas made using one piece of the pleated fabric. You can see in how many ways it could be played: dresses, skirts, sleeves, tops, neck decorations. I found out that the best fabric to be used for the pleating is organza because it stands out really nicely and does not loose the shape of pleats.

3D Paper Manipulation
This is a garment by Ashleigh Smith. She uses Origami to create the triangles on this dress and connects them all together. I have chosen to look into Smith because she uses a technique that I would like to use. It looks like she layers paper on top of paper to give the triangles more texture. Borrowing from Spores!
Nature is one of the major sources of inspiration for designers. For nature offers a great deal of colours, materials and patterns to start off with. Then we moved on to using a diffuser and thin paint to give an effect like airbrushing, holding a piece of ripped paper in front of the fabric to act as a mask so that some parts stayed white. Then we moved on to a way of making monoprints on glass. We put…
Denim/algae/moss resist - gather

"Posts" Is to consist of garments which have been shibori gathered and then left to grow algae and moss on the exposed areas of fabric. Once opened it is hoped the natural elements will have created shibori patterns on the garments. The garments represent gardeners jackets left on posts whilst the gardener is hard at work…
Nintai: Origami-Inspired Geometric Dresses
These dresses were created by Uruguay based designers Mercedes Arocena and Lucia Benitez for their thesis project. During their research about generations of civilizations they discovered that most garments were built out of rectangles and squares. That lead them to creating this line, Nintai--patience in Japanese, which utilizes geometrical figures as the basis of development for these origami-inspired dresses. Their collection uses the aspects of origami such as folding, creasing and…
