A typical example of Stratford having "borrowed" a foreign Class 47 (in this case from Old Oak Common) to augment its home fleet. 47613 will come off the train at Ipswich and be replaced by the Class 86 waiting on the centre road.

47511 (D1955) "THAMES" awaits a repaint at Crewe Works on 21st September 1980. 47511 became 47714 in march 1985 as part of the Scot-Rail Push-Pull fleet of locomotives losing its "THAMES" nameplates in the process. It became "GRAMPIAN REGION" at Aberdeen station on the 16th May 1985, though these plates were removed in February 1989 as the class 47's were displaced from push-pull services by new classes of DMU sets.
