Spanish Golden Age Still Life

Still life painting reached one of its great peaks in Spain between roughly 1600 and 1750. Words like "stark" and "austere" are often used to describe these paintings. This lean and controlled sensibility gives these pieces tremendous psychological drama and artistic depth. Obviously, photographic still life falls outside the scope of this board. It includes paintings only.
