Patrick McGohoon, in 'The Prisoner'

The Prisoner (AMC), TV Review

This AMC remake of The Prisoner, starring Sir Ian McKellen and James Caviezel, succeeds in ways the 1960s original never did, says Rachel Ray.

I am NOT a NUMBER…

I’m also guessing this post will give away another number…my age! Who remembers some of the TV shows back in the day? I mean “really” back-in-the-day…..1967? How many …

FILMING THE PRISONER

The word among fans is that it was fifty years ago today in 1966 that Patrick McGoohan began filming the opening shots in London for The Prisoner. In one of the most iconic sequences in television history, the shots functioned as the perfect introduction to the series and provided context and a springboard into each episode. Take a step behind the scenes with this collection of rare photographs of McGoohan on location at the prisoner's Buckingham Place flat and driving this Lotus Super 7…

Paul Davis On Crime

One may not think of a James Bond film as traditional holiday fare, but every Christmas season I watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The film, which was released in December of 1969, has a Christmas setting and takes place in the snow-covered Swiss Alps. The film, despite not having the great Sean Connery as Bond, is one the best in the series, in my view. Considering that the new Bond, George Lazenby, had to follow Connery in the role, and that he had not acted before, I believe he…

Patrick McGoohan is "The Prisoner" (in a scene from the episode "The Schizoid Man"). From the first episode - "I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. My life is my own." (One of the best television series ever created... and one of my all-time favorites.)

I was so obsessed with The Prisoner in high school. Apparently the producers kept writing femme fatale characters into the show as intended love interests, but McGoohan kept killing them off!

Obsession: The Prisoner - Interview Magazine

Part sci-fi spectacle, part critique of Cold War authoritarianism, Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner wasn't just a spy show. It was fashion history.

That's what they say ins't it, six of one, half a dozen of the other......well it's all the same to me. It's no skin off my nose why the Prisoner resigned, or indeed what it was he resigned from. Although I've come to think that the Prisoners resignation was brought about by the events of Fall Out. After all, in the ending of Fall Out do we not see the beginning of Arrival. In my end is my beginning, as T.S. Elliot wrote. It matters not one whit which side runs the Village. It doesn't matter…
