Jenny Saville

Passage, Jenny Saville, 2004 The painting is of a transvestite with a natural penis and false silicone breasts. Saville liked the idea of painting someone with a floating gender that is not fixed, she said she was looking for a contemporary architecture of the body. She looked to 'paint a visual passage through gender - a sort of gender landscape'. Saville has painted from this viewpoint for a reason, so the audience get a view of the penis, then to the breasts, and finally to the face.

Jenny Saville, 'Passage' 2004 Oil on canvas 336 x 290 cm intresting image and compostion. daring as highly unexplored subject. the angle also very confrontational
