Exeter Central. Aug 1963. Memories of school holidays past, when, armed with our "Rail Rover" ticket, we tried to travel on every condemned branch line in the west of England. Here, West Country class, 34002 Salisbury has just arrived with a down train, whilst a pair of W class tanks lead by 31914 await their next banking duties, up the gradient from St. David's station - the line which can be seen dropping steeply out of sight on the right of the photo. © David Hill.
