Made my own blending line for my reception class today... They were very intrigued and hopefully it will encourage them to think about the sounds that make up words :)

Blending line - Teaching and practising blending for reading VC and CVC words and segmenting for spelling.

CVC Words Roll reading center

CVC Roll and Cover (could also add writing lines under each word, give each student their own board, and have them roll and write the words - collect and check after).

Reading - HFW Ring Around A Bottle - students toss the ring and say the word if they land on one

Sight Words Ring Around A Bottle - students toss the ring and say the word if the ring lands one of the bottles.

Our favourite phonic activity that can be adapted to practise anything and everything! Chalk your words on the ground, hand out a wet brush, call out a word and watch them wash it away!

Need to practise blending in a fun, physical way? Try 'Bouncy Blending'! Lay out how ever many hoops you need for the number if sounds. Put one sound next to each hoop in order. Then ask a child to bounce into each hoop and shout the sounds. They orally blend the word as they jump out of the last hoop! #eyfs #earlyyears #earlyyearsliteracy #earlyreading #phonicgames #phonics #outside #aceearlyyears
