''Le repos'', oil painting by Julien Dupré (1851–1910). Dupré was a French painter who worked in a lace shop hoping to one day enter the family jewelry business. When the shop was forced to close during the siege of Paris (war 1870), he began taking art classes & eventually entered the École des Beaux-Arts. Throughout his life Dupré captured peasant life in his art & painted scenes in the areas of Normandy & Brittany until his death.
Cinde Hoppe. I am no quilter. I can’t stitch in a straight line for one thing. But if I were quilting these clouds, I wouldn’t have to. This is really beautiful. I can’t figure out if it is all fabric pieced together or if the artist painted on the fabric first and then quilted on top of it. If the latter, I could see this as a future project of mine.
