Have you heard of rainwater harvesting? 💧
We use so much water in our gardens. If you're looking to get on board and grow your garden for less, rainwater harvesting is a great first step. Over January, the weather tends to stay cloudy and rainy. All you need is a large container or even just a few buckets, as well as a pipe or collecting. Set up your storage in a clear spot of the garden, and watch as they collect all that free rainwater for use later in the year.

What do in the garden in January ✅
🌱 Plant your loose/bare root Roses, shrubs, hedging and trees, as long as the ground isn't frozen! ✂️ Deadhead your winter bedding plants like Pansies and make sure to remove any foliage affected by mildew ✂️ Prune your climbing Roses while they're dormant to achieve the shape you're aiming for 🍂 Get on with some general cleaning: make sure to clear up any fallen leaves 🔎 Finally, make sure to check your stored bulbs for any rot, and make sure stored tubers haven't completely dried out

🌿 Edimentals! Now you might be thinking, "what is an edimental?". Edimentals are both ornamental and edible plants, giving you months of interest in the garden as well as providing edible produce. 🌿 Drought-tolerant plants 🌿 Plants for pollinators ⭐️ Top tip: If you're wondering what to plant for bees and butterflies, look for flowers that look like a landing pad! Colourful plants with flat, open leaves let those pollinators get straight to the pollen and give them an ample space to rest.
