The Pentney Treasure. Six Saxon Brooches that were discovered in the grounds of Pentney church by gravedigger William King whilst he was digging a grave. King handed the brooches over to the rector of the church & they were locked away, neither men realising their significance. 3 yrs later the new rector found the brooches and the British Museum declared that they were saxon treasure trove and of national importance.
