I have never been in any home like my great grandmother's house, but this vision comes pretty close. She lived in an old Victorian in a small town in Nebraska and I can still remember the sweetness of crisp sheets, a silky coverlet, lamplit vanity with old perfume bottles and photos, and a fan blowing the flowing curtains. I am glad I was born early enough to sleep in that relic of a bygone time.
