Put student's names on the back of YOUR nametag so that you won't have to worry about finding the list during something like a firedrill. Most brilliant idea ever. (or spelling words on the back of a student tag)
Crafty Counselor Chick: Cool Down Cubes. Students who have trouble controlling their anger are asked to take a cube and try the cool down strategy written on it. Examples: count to ten, take 3 deep breaths, talk to a friend, tell the teacher, etc.
so I love this for a Science/Language Arts connection. Jack and The Beanstalk. soak the beans overnight so they swell and sprout more quickly. Plant in soil, insert wooden skewer with castle and clouds (cotton balls) attached at top.
spelling For this spelling activity the teacher writes a word on the chalkboard and the students write over it with a paint brush and water. This helps the students get familiar with spelling words and helps them practice writing them.
My teacher uses a Noise Meter similar to this one. The Noise Meter is a cool way to remind students the correct noise level that they should be using! You just use the paper clip and move it to the appropriate noise level the students should be using.
