And finally, here is a sampling of the collographs that came out of the 2nd half of the printmaking class. Above is an acrylic plate with a design made out of beeswax and then inked with Akua waterbased inks. Making the collograph plate. Inking it carefully by hand. I did a monotype of this a couple of years ago and always liked the shapes. Here I have simplified the shapes and adapted it to a collograph. I chose the name "Kinglet" because the wren is also known by this name in Old High German, a name associated with a legend of an election of the "king of birds". The bird who could fly to the highest altitude would be made king. The eagle out flew all other birds, but he was beaten by a small bird who had hidden in his plumage. Image Size: 6" x 9"…
