The English Lake District stole my heart years ago and I’d like to share my three favourite day walks there. Whether it’s pottering about the chocolate box village of Grasmere or hiking through the glorious Langdale Valley, the English Lake District is on
Golden Rule pub at Ambleside. If you're not wanting a full three-course meal, there can be no finer pub in Lakeland than the Golden Rule, off the town's main street. Beautifully unchanged in decades, it is a haven for locals, walkers and tourists.
This leaflet 'Biking around Ullswater' contains 5 do-in-a-day cycle routes and start from Ullswater. Many regard Ullswater as the most beautiful of the English lakes. The surrounding mountains give Ullswater the shape of an elongated 'Z' giving it three separate segments, or reaches that wind their way through the surrounding hills. The cycle routes can also be downloaded from the cycling section of our website.
