Edward VII only reigned from 1901 until 1910, but it's possible to isolate the date of this lamp box's manufacture still further, as the Royal Cypher was apparently only used from 1905. [See correction below] Better On Black?

Royal Mail Post Boxes from two reigns : Edward VII and George V : City of London
Presumably from the reigns of King Edward VII ( (1901-1910) and King George V ( 1910 - 1936) On the highest resolution you can see that the otherwise similar boxes were made at different foundries. On the left from W. T. Allen & Co, London On the right McDowell Steven & Co. Ltd, Falkirk, Scotland A little chasing on Google gives us the following info on the latter. Business ran from 1910? to 1964, with following details .... Take over Laurieston Ironworks. Works were set up in Laurieston…
