WOMEN RUN A BOAT: LIFE ON BOARD THE CANAL BARGE 'HEATHER BELL', 1942

Mrs March drives the 'HEATHER BELL' under the bridge, having gone through one set of lock gates. Miss March can be seen in silhouette under the bridge at the front of the boat, directing her mother through the tunnel. The handle of the lock gate can be seen in the foreground and a passer-by watches the Marches navigate the lock from the top of the bridge.
