Two goldfinches have a mid-air fight after struggling to get enough space on a bird feeder in a British back garden. Photographer Laurie Campbell snapped away from a hide in his garden for 30 hours to get a picture he was happy with. Laurie, from Berwick-on-Tweed, Northumberland, said: "It can take weeks for the goldfinches to find this bait but once they do, they are hooked."

Chaffinch. I've had one of these guys outside the last few days. Such a cheery song, and so pretty to look at. As with many birds, the males are more colourful and are the singers :-)

eurasian collared dove seem to have chased most of the other birds out of the area.  They're spreading fast but seem pretty docile.  However I have't seen a meadowlark since they appeared 3 years ago!

This goldfinch must be from another country. NoDak only has the yellow goldfinch which people call a canary -drives me nuts when they do that. These goldfinches are regular winter visitors in my south east england garden. Some of the prettier guests
