Legasea have reached the final of the Northern Star Business Awards
The Northern Star Business Awards recognise the exceptional accomplishments of organisations across the North-east of Scotland. Open to both members and non-members of the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, the winners of the 17th annual awards, will be unveiled during a glittering black-tie ceremony at P&J Live on March 11, 2021.
Did You Know? We manufacture and supply downlines for subsea electrical diagnostic operations. This includes the supply of reelers, downlines and electrical connectors all on a rental basis. In order to support our client with a recent urgent requirement for their North Sea operations; this downline was assembled, terminated and tested, in preparation for mobilisation, all within two working days.

Chapelton Scarecrow Festival Returns
We are delighted to confirm that Legasea will be sponsoring the Chapelton Scarecrow Festival for the second year running! The festival will be returning this year, with some adjustments made, to account for public safety and social distancing, and the theme for 2020 will be movies / cinema! The chosen beneficiaries for this year's festival are Newtonhill out of School Club, the Chapelton Defibrillator Project and Cairnhill Community Allotments.

Subsea Specialists set to expand following Business Gateway Support
A North East subsea specialist company, that provides electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic services, and promotes a circular economy, is preparing to expand its operations, following support and advice from Business Gateway. Legasea is set to expand into international markets over the next 12 months and is anticipating the growth of its team into 2021, with the addition of up to ten new roles.

Did You Know? It is estimated that, over the next 20 years, 12,000 planes will be decommissioned. Today, between 40% and 50% of the weight of dismantled aircraft is reused to help keep other aircraft airborne. The average age of a car, when scrapped in the UK, is 14.2 years. Vehicle reuse and recovery rose by 20% since 1999, to 95% of each vehicle by weight. SpaceX has been developing the technology over several yearsto facilitate full and rapid reusability of space launch vehicles.
Carbon Savings - Oil & Gas Reuse
Did You Know? 1,630 Wells are expected to be decommissioned the UKCS over the next 10 years. This will require full recovery of 59,610 tonnes of Subsea structures. Rather than scrapping these structures, an opportunity exists to refurbish, re-certify and reuse a wide range of critical components. Carbon emissions can be prevented, through reuse of this equipment, amounting to up to 48,500 tonnes CO2e. This is equivalent to preventing 120 million miles, driven by the average passenger vehicle.
