Ian Murphy depicts derelict buildings and often paints/draws on printed material which bleeds through. I like how Ian Murphy used pastel, contrasting colours to make his work eye-catching and unique.

Ian murphy biro drawing - Inspiration for own pen sketches

The majority of this image was created with scribbling - especially near the edges. The areas of this image that needed a little more definition were refined with cross hatching to assist in determining the form.

WHO: Ian Murphy Paintings WHAT: Venetian Scroll WHY: I like the use of colour to create the loo of texture. I also like the shapes with the colour which creates a focal point

Ian Murphy This is a sketch of one of the canals in Venice. I like how the pen has made quite a dark and vivid image. I also like how detailed the brick work is and how he creates the reflections.

Although this is an excellent sketch, I think a lighter pen weight for the water reflection would have created better contrast and not been as crowded and dark.
