During her final year at university, Kirsty Whitlock challenged the preconception of embroidery as a “limited conservative craft.” In other words, she became preoccupied of how embroidery could transform a material or surface and says, “I became interested and curious in sewing on materials and exploring subject matters that were not normally associated with embroidery.”

I was wanting to make a shirt that had the same look of the obama posters and was hoping to find that style of illustration online that i could work with. I found one when i searched for "mlk poster", then i gave it the Shepard Fairey treatment, added the word Dream. The way the Obama poster says hope. i love shep's work. wish i had one of those obama posters, wish he would make an mlk poster…
