Counting is so important, that we wanted to let you guys in on some fantastic activities that didn't make it into story time. This is the Number Writing Salt Tray Game, which is a great idea for kids to practice number recognition and writing skills.
Combine multiple objectives into a single lesson. Teach children number sense and fine motor skills at the same time. The kids will love using the hole punch and will be improving their number sense at the same time.
Instead of numbers write the color word on the bottles. Sort pom-poms by color. Empty each bottle and count the pom-poms. Then record how many pom-poms were in each bottle. Add the two colors together for addition practice.
A great fine motor skills and maths activity. Children cut along strips of card. Count out 4 strips fold in half and glue each into a circle. Make two cross and staple in centre of each. A lovely display for Mother's Day or Spring.
