No-one calls this Georgian gem St. Luke's-in-the-city. In fact most Liverpudlians haven't the faintest clue of its proper nomenaclature. To them - to me, too - it's 'the bombed-out church'. It was flattened by the Germans and remains one of the city's principal monuments to the second world war.
