Stairway to heaven!
The effect of the facade of the Institut du Monde Arabe the is like a giant Islamic pierced screen, giving great significance and an audacious brilliance to this remarkable building. From the inside it is like looking into the light and seeing a "Stairway to heaven". On an other level it reminds me of "Ascending and Descending" a lithograph print by the Dutch artist M. C. Escher
Bentham Works was where many of the UK’s early fighter jets were prototyped and tested. The Gloster Aircraft Company used the site from ~1940 - 1963, since when the buildings have changed hands a few times up until ~1998. Since that time the buildings have remained empty. Looking as if it belongs on a long-forgotten industrial estate somewhere in deepest Russia, the iconic Littlewoods building in Edge Lane, Liverpool, awaits a bit of Scouse TLC.
