Live stumps may take as long as a month to decay, and start to decompose all by themselves....I wish we knew this when we cut down our trees at the house we're moving out of!

So simple, so effective.  That bamboo is going to shed like crazy though when it gets bigger, so let's find a different species. Otherwise perfect.

Could do two tier deck: concrete/brick/or shingle planter from ground up, high enough to offer privacy & back support. Wood bench second level along planter.
